Animal Farm is a novella that is initially comical in what the exact plot is. The gist is that the animals are fed up with working for the farmer without any inherent benefit and seek to revolt to “seize the means of production”. This book provides an interesting critique of both capitalism and Stalinism, with Stalinism representing the authoritarian regime that set up after the successful revolution. The novella showed that the animals slowly began to deteriorate due to overwork and was in an ever continuing consumption of everyone, stopping at the last authority. It was a good critique on how totalitarianism breeds despair and hardship.
